How We Can Help

General Aches and Pains

Massage can be a great source of acute or chronic pain control.

Migraines/Headaches

Depending on the cause, RMT may help provide relief.

Improving Circulation

Improving the mobility of your soft tissue can improve your general circulation.

Lymphatic Drainage

RMT can significantly help with fluid collection due to lymphatic insufficiency, including those post-surgery.

Our Approach

At Physiotherapy and Beyond, massage therapy services are performed by a registered massage therapist (RMT).

Treatment can include relaxation, deep tissue and other massage techniques depending on your individual needs. You and your massage therapist will discuss your specific case and the appropriate treatment for you.

In many cases, massage therapy can be a great standalone treatment, but can also be used in conjunction with other types of manual treatment. It can also be an excellent alternative for other forms of rehabilitation when required.

FAQs About Registered Massage Therapy

Are massage therapists licensed?

In Ontario, registered massage therapists are licensed health care professionals. They are regulated by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. Any time you are seeking a massage therapist, you should look for the title RMT or Registered Massage Therapist to help determine if they are licensed.

Do I need to remove all of my clothes for a massage?

No. During any massage, only the area that will be treated needs to be exposed. This area will be exposed in a manner that protects and respects your privacy and modesty. If you have any questions or concerns about this at any time, please do no hesitate to discuss this with your massage therapist.

Will my massage be painful?

While RMT can be generally beneficial, in some cases there can be times where you may experience some discomfort. This will vary from person to person and will be discussed with your massage therapist to ensure your comfort before and during your treatment.

Is registered massage therapy covered by insurance?

Registered massage therapy is generally covered by most third-party and automobile insurance policies. There may limitations in coverage, as well as requiring a referral in order to make a claim. It is best to check with your health plan provider if you have questions about claims.
